HOW BIG IS YOUR HOUSE?
One of the biggest questions we are asked here at Shires is how big a vehicle will be needed for your removal. Well the great news is that we have a fleet that ranges in size and so you can be confident that you are only paying for the right vehicle for your needs.

1 BED HOME OR FLAT
Typically a customer living in a one bedroom flat, bedsit or very small house will require a limited storage capacity. On average this measures 500 cubic feet and would need somewhere between 10 - 20 boxes. A smaller vehicle would be used to keep moving costs lower.
2 BED HOME OR FLAT
Typically a customer living in a two bedroom home or flat will require a limited storage capacity. On average this measures 750 cubic feet, and would require around 20-30 boxes. The vehicle used would usually be a 7.5 tonne vehicle. If storage was required, usually 2-3 storage containers would suffice.
3 BED HOME OR FLAT
A family living in a three bedroom home would usually have quite a lot of belongings to move. On average this measures 1000 cubic feet, would require around 30-40 boxes and would need a 7.5 tonne / 11 tonne removal vehicle. If you needed to store the contents of this size of property for a period of time then usually 3-4 storage containers would be needed.
4 BED HOME OR FLAT
A family living in an average sized four bedroom home would usually have several items of furniture to move and lots of other general belongings. A typical/average sized 4 bed home would measure 1500 cubic feet, need approximately 40-50 boxes for packing and would need an 18 tonne removals vehicle. Storing a homes contents of this size would need 5-6 storage containers.
5 BED HOME OR FLAT
A family living in a an average sized five bedroom home would usually have several items of furniture to move and lots of other general belongings. A typical/average sized 5 bed home would measure 2000 cubic feet, would require 60-80 boxes for packing and would need around an 18 tonne removals vehicle. If you wanted to store the contents of this size of home then typically you would need 8-9 storage containers.
LARGE FAMILY HOME
A family living in an extra large-sized five bedroom home would usually have several items of furniture to move and lots of other general belongings. A typical/average sized 5 bed home would measure 2500 – 3000 cubic feet, it would require between 80-100 boxes for packing, an 18 tonne vehicle + trailer would be used to move the belongings. Should you need to store the contents of a home of this size then usually 10-12 storage containers would be needed.
