We’ve been going strong for nearly fifty years! We have a strong sense of purpose in providing the best moving experience for our customers – from A to Z, the whole package – from planning, packing, storage, transporting, to destination. This could be moving you around the corner, or around the world.
So, customer satisfaction is a top priority – especially through the past few years. The global pandemic and lockdowns brought huge challenges to most businesses, more specifically those who had to shut down operations for a while. We kept on track during strict lockdown, and opened as soon as we were able.
And we have been moving you again – enthusiastically and busily – ever since!

Where we began
The Shires Removal Group was born in 1989 from the parent company of P. Sweeting Removals and Storage, a family run business, which was established in 1974. Our philosophy has always been to offer a top quality service using trained, friendly staff who care about getting the job done properly.
Whether you are moving house or office, nationally or internationally, our friendly and helpful staff aim to make the move as easy and stress free as possible.
Our head office is located in Kinsley, near Pontefract and Wakefield, West Yorkshire, UK, but we cater for moves all over the country and around the world – whether you are moving a few miles or a few thousand miles.
Right from the start, our sense of purpose has been written in our foundations, philosophy and culture. Clear purpose is everything to an organisation: why the company exists, what problems it is here to solve, who it wants to be to every customer and team member.

Many have moved to the countryside, to larger homes for accommodating remote working from home, sometimes commuting to the office as hybrid working. “We would recommend Shires Removals for their outstanding service. They moved us out of our 4 storey house and put our contents in storage. Nothing was too much trouble for Danny and his team. We expected to use their storage facility for 2-3 months, but due to our original house purchase falling through, this became 15 months.
Luckily, the cost of their storage was cheaper than their competitors’ quotes. All of our possessions arrived safely, without a single item damaged. Towels & bedding etc were fresh and dry and didn’t even need washing on arrival.
